Recipient Org: Description Me Again is a community-interest-company set up to support women who’ve been diagnosed with cancer. This can have a huge impact on a woman’s life, causing anxiety, fear and low mood. Surgery and treatment can result in changes to body image which can affect confidence and self-esteem. Women can become overwhelmed by all the medical appointments yet feel isolated during treatment and in the recovery period. Our main aims are to help women suffering from/recovering from cancer to help them feel good about themselves and to feel connected with other women going through the same experience. We strive to help them cope with the social and emotional challenges so they feel good about themselves again. We offer complementary therapies, private/bespoke wig services, community activities and free courses to help these women through this difficult time; from the point of diagnosis, throughout their treatment, during the recovery period and beyond. Me Again offer a fantastic variety of activities and courses from cookery to yoga, to provide support, friendship and laughter with others that understand. Our community activities and courses are offered free-of-charge. We hold a Coffee morning the first Friday of every month. This provides a relaxing, sociable atmosphere and a different guest speaker attends, delivering a variety of topics such as nutrition/lifestyle, overcoming sleep problems, finance, flower-arranging, sugarcraft and many more. Our dedicated team of oncology-therapists help our women improve self-esteem to make them feel like ‘Me Again’. From manicures and pedicures, to scar-tissue massages and complementary-therapies, there is a great choice of treatments which are offered at a greatly subsidised price. We accept NHS prescriptions for wigs and our scalp/wig specialists will support before, during and after hair-loss and in the period of regrowth too. All this is provided at our fantastic Health & Wellness Centre at Brimstage.
