Recipient Org: Description Seymour Hill & Conway Residents Association is a voluntary Group who work mainly within the Lisburn/Derriaghy council ward area. We are a residents group formed in 2002 to address a number of local issues and to develop our community so local people have opportunities to engage & thrive. We aim to provide a range of services, activities and programmes that are of benefit to the Seymour hill/Conway communities. This includes the provision of social services and signposting, educational programmes and opportunities to increase skills and employability of local people, environmental projects, recreational opportunities to increase health and well-being of the community, and cultural/heritage and cross community projects and enrich people’s lives. We are proactive and have a positive influence within the community and organise a number of inclusive engagements and initiatives involving many sections within the community. We are involved in partnership with many statutory bodies including NIHE, housing associations, Education Bodies, Faith Based groups, PSNI, PCSP, Local Councillors, MLA’S Citizen’s Advice, TADA, Health & Social Services, Senior Citizens groups etc. At present, we have around 5000 residents due to an increase of new social houses having been built this past year. We are the communities voice in times of need and advice and work hard on building great relationships with them. The group have 2 small offices which are opened from 9.00am-12.00pm & 6.00pm - 8.00pm Monday to Friday running advice centres and holding meetings for our committee. We also work out of Mosside hall which we run weekly youth clubs from, our age groups are from 5-10 year old’s and 11-18 year old’s, these buildings are used during school hours were we have our local women and men’s groups who run adult education programmes and social get togethers, these are all well used by our older generation. The group also carry out beneficial work with more vulnerable members of the community ie. Senior citizens, foreign nationals, Syrian Refugees etc. They facilitate Citizen’s Advice, Police and MLA surgeries from our offices. We also help to organize crime prevention initiatives, workshops, health fares, outings & men's shed initiatives.
