Recipient Org: Description About esc films – background to the organisation esc films is an award-winning culture and arts education charity transforming the lives of socially-excluded and marginalised people through therapeutic film-making. Our Vision: To create radical transformation among those most disadvantaged by society. Our Mission: To use drama and film to change lives, challenge perceptions, tackle social exclusion, stigma and discrimination. 
 AIMS: • Be responsive and flexible to changing situations, using creativity to help prevent social isolation with the most vulnerable members of our society. • Transform trauma and communities through empowering people to share their stories on film • Reduce substance abuse, addiction, self-harm and suicide • Support recovery and create a therapeutic, supportive community, in which marginalised people can feel valued, worthwhile and develop a sense of belonging • Challenge stigma and raise awareness of mental health issues • Prevent reoffending and reduce the number of victims How we achieve these aims: esc films provides opportunities for disadvantaged or socially-excluded people to experience creative interventions through drama and film. The overall aim of the organisation is to encourage marginalised people to understand and transform their lives by turning their unique experiences into films and documentaries. We do this across a wide range of short film-making projects. We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations to bring our skills into their particular situations and client groups. esc films (www.esc-film.com) is a well-established, award-winning film-making charity transforming the lives of socially-excluded and marginalised people through therapeutic film-therapy. Our vision is to create radical transformation among those most disadvantaged by society with a primary focus on those with mental health issues. esc films is currently working with women with mental health and learning disabilities (Belfast Trust), with young people who have lost a parent to cancer (Cancer Focus), LGBTQI+ people of faith in NI ( Corrymeela Community) and are working on a high profile film showcase of all Belfast Trust funded work with people with learning disability (across 10 LD charities).
