Recipient Org: Description | St. Canice’s GAC is a registered charity; we are registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (NIC103131) and HMRC (XT6660). The club currently provides access to Gaelic Football for up to 400 members ranging from age 6 through to 45 (both male and female). Coaching sessions take place daily at the existing club pitch or at the local council pitch (which is also leased by the club). Over the past number of years, the club has become embedded as a focal point for both sporting and community activity having developed links with other community groups, statutory organisations and sports clubs. The club operates from its base in the heart of Dungiven town and has access to a full-size grass GAA pitch and a vibrant community hall and clubhouse. Whilst its primary purpose is the provision of sport and physical activity through Gaelic football, the club now hosts a range of activities from Drama, Traditional Music and Dance, to weight watchers and fitness programmes, community meetings and community festivals. Such is the demand and enthusiasm to engage in community-based activities, targeting a wide range of groups, especially those who are isolated and vulnerable. In times of need, St. Canice's GAC have supported our community and have got the facilities and volunteer support to ensure that local people are cared for in their time of need. |
