Recipient Org: Description SCRA typically work with over 6000 unique beneficiaries through it range of programmes. Aims include: To provide a range of activities and programmes that will encourage healthier lifestyles in residents of all ages, and help to tackle the rising prevalence of obesity in children and its many adverse health effects. To reduce the number of accidents involving young people, reduce the number of incidents of anti-community behaviour involving young people, help reduce the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour in local residents, improve relationships between residents and Public bodies, and particularly between Young People and the Emergency Service To develop confident communities that are able and committed to improving the quality of life in their areas, build the capacity and self-esteem of local residents; improve employability; contribute to physical / environmental improvements, deliver a range of programmes involving children & young people, women, older and vulnerable residents. To encourage pride in our community by developing programmes around environmental issues which will have a beneficial impact on the area, and create an attractive, safe, sustainable environment. The current and anticipated demand for SCRA service delivery is evidenced by the numbers participating in the programmes; e.g. the YES Awareness Programme attracts the participation of all Primary Schools in the Derry City & Strabane Council area. Feedback from schools and organisations has been excellent, with all schools, 100%,stating in the evaluations, that they regarded the YES Programme as an integral part of their annual programme of activities and were looking forward to next year. The Shantallow Summer Programme; receives referrals from Chance for Change, (Social Services), GSAP’s Family Support Team, local Primary Schools, and Youth Organisations. SCRA provides a range of services in ON NRA, OW NRA with elements of the project also rolling out across Triax, Waterside, Strabane. The project directly addresses priority needs The project benefits large numbers of people of all ages from across the City, with approximately 6000 unique beneficiaries. Annually SCRA delivers: 3100 people in Health-Related Initiatives; over 2000 people in community relations projects, and 2500 in a range of community safety initiatives over 800 young people engaged in positive activities / youth diversionary activities, including out-of-hrs & tailored support programmes for disaffected youth; 2300 people participating in community bonding projects; enables a further 2000 people to access improved community facilities. In addition, the project provides managerial and administrative support for the Teamworks CIC Social enterprise, Shantallow Youth Intervention Group, Shantallow Social Support Group, Shantallow Women’s Group, Shantallow Mens Support Group, ON Community Safety Team. Partnership The Project will be delivered in partnership with a number of key community / voluntary and statutory organisations including Outer North Neighbourhood Partnership, ON Community Safety Team, ON Health Forum, NWDO/DfC, DCSDC, PCSP, NIHE, EA, PSNI, DRD, DOE, WHSST, PHA, NHIP, NW Social Enterprise Hub, Volunteer Now, Triax NPB, Waterside NPB, Outer West NPB, GSAP, CRJ, Shantallow Mens Support Group, Shantallow Youth Intervention Group, Shantallow Social Support Group, Shantallow Women’s Group, On Street Community Youth, Shantallow EA Youth Centre, Youth Justice Agency, Social Services, Oakgrove College, SCRA works collaboratively and/or in partnership with key agencies and statutory bodies:# Outer North NP - ONNP Greater Shantallow Area Partnership – GSAP Teamworks CIC (support & directorship by SCRA) ON Community Safety Team (coordinated by SCRA & CRJ). Shantallow Youth Intervention Group Shantallow Social support group (older/vulnerable residents) Shantallow Womens group Shantallow Mens support group Shantallow Fit Club - Health Suite/Gym On Street Community Youth, OSCY, (V-Chair, assist with overall management, and a 2nd rep on Management committee). Community Restorative Justice, CRJ (community safety team, home safety visits & represented on CRJ management committee) In addition, there are Service Level Agreements, Management Agreements and/or contracts with other agencies to deliver services; DCSDC: a) Active Citizenship Programme, b) Shared Management Agreement for the Shantallow Community Centre, c) Good Relations programme, d) small project funding.
