Recipient Org: Description Larne Well-being Hub has recently changed its name from Preventing Addiction Larne (PAL) due to the evolvement of its service over the years since opening in 2010. Originally set up to support those and their families effected by legal highs and substance misuse. This change in name has evolved as the need within our community has changed, where there is a significant need for support for all areas of mental health. We, as an organisation voted on the name change in a Special General Meeting, where it was unanimous that the name be changed to best support our community moving forward. Larne Well-being Hub has a Management Committee consisting of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Vice Treasurer, Secretary and two further members. The Management Committee meet at least eight times per year as stipulated in our Governing Document. The Hub has a further sub-committee consisting of three members who would be involved on an advisory level around areas of their expertise. The Hub has a further six volunteers who offer their time as and when required. Larne Well-being Hub continues to provide counselling but have expanded this to support all family members from aged 4 years and up. The Hub offers a drop-in service twice weekly where any member of the community can call in for an informal chat and a cuppa. We, as an organisation have listened to our service users and what would best support them; throughout the year offering workshops and information evenings around areas that have been highlighted by our community e.g. Anxiety, depression and goal setting. Currently there are numerous referral routes into the services offered, self-referral, GP, Community Mental Health, Action for Children, Network Personnel, this list is not exhaustive. Where possible, the inclusion of service users in offering support is utilised, from offering a listening ear to others and help with delivery of workshops. This in turn offers service users a purpose and a sense of belonging which is all beneficial to their positive mental health. With the Covid-19 pandemic upon us, we, as an organisation have taken our work online, where currently we are supporting our service users by counselling and offering group meetings through Zoom. There has been a major influx of enquiries and those seeking support. As we transition back to face to face work, we anticipate a greater need within our community and we would hope to be in the position to meet that need.
