Recipient Org: Description St Oliver Plunkett Youth Club (SOPYC) is the only full time youth provision in South Armagh. SOPYC works with children and young people between the ages of 6 and 19 years of age within Crossmaglen and surrounding areas. We provide a range of activities and programmes to promote personal and social development, creativity, self esteem and resilience. Promoting life long learning is a priority within SOPYC and we believe that the best learning comes from active participation and with children and young people (with staff support) taking responsibility for the upkeep and development of their space. SOPYC believes this offers children and young people life long learning and will benefit them in many areas of their life. Several times a year we offer opportunities for stakeholder consultations to ensure we are meeting the needs and interests of the clubs members. We also use these opportunities to consult with parents/ guardians and other professional bodies who work with to explore their points of view on young people's priorities. SOPYC maintain a close working relationship with various agencies that are concerned with developmental work and deliver multi-agency programmes to children and young people to ensure a holistic approach to the needs of children and young people. Before Covid-19 The club was involved with the following agencies; PIPs Hope and Support (Physical and Emotional well being in Young People), PSNI (Internet Safety, drugs and alcohol awareness, safe driving), the local high school (providing study space), Newry Mourne and Down District Council (Inter generational Group) and Youth Action (accredited Leadership training for part time Youth Support Work staff). The club offers a range of activities every weekday afternoon and evening (life skills, Inclusion group, accredited training, arts and crafts, music). SOPYC also offer's trips on a very regular basis (residential s, bowling, cinema, pantomime). During the summer months, there is a three week Junior summer scheme (age 6 - 12 years old), inclusive of in house activities and day trips and a 10 day senior summer scheme, inclusive of residential, day trips and activities (age 13 plus).
