| Recipient Org: Description | The purpose of the Association is to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society, to further or benefit the residents of East Belfast and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and local authorities, voluntary and other education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents, to relieve and prevent poverty in East Belfast and the surrounding areas by means of food provision, information, advice, guidance and education, to alleviate mental health issues where possible to promote the advancement of health which includes the prevention of human suffering by offering counselling services by way of teaming up with local counselling service providers. We meet our aims and objectives by effective and ongoing management of our 'Social Supermarket' which operates as a £2-a-pack food bank that can be delivered or collected every week during set hours. During this time, Together NI provide access to socialising and 'chat' to our clients on an informal and friendly basis to alleviate feelings of social exclusion, isolation or loneliness. Together NI are also currently training in benefit advice to ensure that a holistic approach to having our clients needs met is provided. We have the means to refer clients onto a counselling service who will be offering 'in house' counselling at our facilities and during lockdown this was completed via our 12 week telephone befriending and counselling service. This is due to be extended and implemented with social distancing on a face to face basis in our premises. |
