| Recipient Org: Description | Aims Rosemount Resource Centre is a community development, community based organisation based in a Neighbourhood Renewal area. Our organisation addresses the needs of, provides services to and caters for all sectors of our community, from birth to death, complying with section 75 requirements. (see services below). We provide physical, professional and administrative support to all our beneficiaries and all target groups catered for by our network of services and projects. Objectives The Group is established for the benefit of the community in Northern Ireland by the advancement of education and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress and any other charitable purpose and in particular, to provide in Rosemount and surrounding district in County Derry legal services, and welfare rights information to people, who because of their lack of means, could not otherwise afford such services. Mission Statement The group is established for the benefit of the community by the provision of education, training, services, advice, support and resources through the development of community infrastructure, encouraging acceptance of diversity and unity of purpose with the aim of combating social exclusion through empowerment. Rosemount Resource Centre is an umbrella community partnership. Our projects include a community creche, and after school club; a woman's group; an elderly men's group; a mediation programme which engages with alienated youth, their families and the community; a drugs and alcohol project; an extensive welfare rights service; a youth forum and youth cultural project; a residents group; a senior citizens group; a camera club, historical society, horticultural project and a dance group. We provide a range of services covering health, education, training, advice, representation, work placement, recreation, social and personal development and individual support to our projects and the wider community. Our centre acts on behalf of our community in interactions between locals and statutory bodies including PSNI, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Derry City and Strabane District Council and DHSSPS. We also mediate extensively with youth and dissident organisations. All of our management committee come from the local area and all are voluntary. All members and senior staff are required on an individual basis to be active in at least one of our constituent projects e.g. many women members are also members of the Women's Group. Our chairperson is active in the Elderly Women's Group, our manager is active in our Drugs and Alcohol Project. This ensures grass root interaction between centre activists and community users. Our aim is to provide resources, services and representation for our community.
