| Recipient Org: Description | The Lough Neagh Heritage Boating Association is a Men's Shed Group. The shed members and volunteers hail from the greather Craigavon area and have a great interest in Lough Neagh. As a Mens Shed our focus is on the delivery of activities to help improve the health and well-being of primarily older men. There are also a few ladies who take part in some of the activities. Through the work and craft related workshops delivered by Lough Neagh Boating Heritage Association we can see how these activities has set a foundation for developing a mutual trust with men (Shedders) who become involved in our activities. This has led to people being open and honest because of the respect they have for each other. This project will allow Lough Neagh Heritage Boating Association Mens Shed to continue to create opportunities for local men especially older people to come together around the traditional loughshore culture in an environment which can reduce negative effects of any outside influences. The work of the Mens Shed allows people to get to know other people from their neighbouring community which makes this area more friendly and welcoming to all. |
