Young people with special needs receive little support after the age of 18 years of age and are a highly vulnerable group, significantly more likely to be unemployed than their counterparts without disabilities. Derry / Londonderry has some of the highest unemployment rates in the UK.A grant will fund project and salary costs that will enable the Fab Farms project to harness technology that will ensure the employability and independence of young people with special needs. This will ultimately result in social enterprises growing food in urban farms which support the project’s participants. As the food grows, so does the capacity of the participants and their income.
