Deprivation is a significant issue in Lambeth, with recent Government figures showing that around 59% of children and young people are living in poverty. The area also has a long history of gangs, drugs and crime which continue to affect its youth population. Code 7 Ltd is a youth project that has a strong track record in working with young people from disadvantaged communities including those who are gang affected. This grant will contribute to salary and project running costs and enable Code 7 to use music and multimedia projects to engage young people and offer mentoring, life skills and personal development programmes. Young people will develop skills, knowledge and a positive attitude to move away from a life of gangs and crime.
