Sports for Inclusion: Changing the Game for Disabled Children in Kenya (360G-CR-1787473)
Most disabled children in Kenya lack opportunities to participate in education, sport and play. Whilst the policy environment in Kenya is supportive of the inclusion of disabled children in accessing education, there is very little practical implementation. This project seeks to bridge this gap by using Child Rights Clubs and sporting activities as an entry route to school for disabled children. Through sport and play they will gain key foundations skills such as confidence, concentration and memory, whilst their inclusion in these activities simultaneously serves to demonstrate abilities and break down stigma. The project will also work with families of disabled children to help them better support their children.
