BIGKID Recovery Funding (360G-CR-4908510)
COVID19 -Realising that we are an essential service for our young people, providing vital stability, support and continuity, we have completely transformed our operations to deliver online. We are requesting funding to support these virtual programmes: Virtual Youth Club (6 days/week,). Using a range of platforms including Instagram live, Zoom and Houseparty, young people can take part in activities, including: Fitness sessions Practice challenge videos Leadership sessions Mentoring ? one to one/group Interviews Music listening parties Fifa games, tournaments Workshops ? money, relationships, mental health Book club Interactive games and general chat We also provide a platform for our young people to share their talents, whether it be baking or running block workouts for their community. Social action - under the theme, 'Through My Eyes' our young people are working on two projects, a film and virtual gallery (photos, art pieces) depicting their perspectives on quarantine. Helpline - from day one of lockdown, we have been communicating with our young people regularly, flagging any concerns around mental or physical health, behaviour, essential supplies. Aware there are likely to be others who need support, we have also established a helpline, manned by BIGKID staff. Emergency support ? Due to needs (food, utilities, technology) arising within the first few days of lockdown, we launched an emergency fund, which has allowed us to support some young people and their families. We continually evaluate our delivery, trying new approaches and platforms to see what young people most engage with. This will continue as lockdown restrictions are eased, so that we are ready to respond and adapt our offering as appropriate. Seeing the positive response, we are keen to maintain our online presence, even as living conditions begin to normalise.
