COVID19 -We are requesting funding toward the cost of running our helpline and webchat service. This service is under increasing pressure with a 39% increase in demand from people needing support. CALM?s primary aim throughout this pandemic is to ensure the long-term financial stability of our charity and avoid reducing capacity on this service while demand is so high. What is most needed at present is restricted funding towards the current 20 seat provision on this service. This will help ensure we do not have to reduce capacity and will help protect our future so we can be there to support those struggling and in crisis for years to come. The uncertainty of the current situation means we cannot look to increase the capacity of the helpline and webchat service without first ensuring we have the funding to keep it running at its current level. Comic Relief already supports the cost of staffing for one helpline seat a year but we only receive total restricted funding for approximately 15% of the total running costs of the service at present with the remainder being funded from our unrestricted income.
