Who Cares? Scotland Recovery Funding (360G-CR-4908665)

COVID19 -Care Experienced people already face disadvantage in their life, the Covid-19 pandemic has amplified this. From issues with homelessness to zero hour contracts and increased living costs, Care Experienced people are facing the hardest times of their lives alone without support. We will provide a National Helpline, Information and Support service for Care Experienced people facing crisis. We have provided a National Helpline service since March offering support financially, as well as practically but as the situation evolves, so does the needs of Care Experienced people. Many children and young people may find support with Advocates, Social Work and throughcare workers. Adults who are termed 'Care-Leavers' are often left lacking the support throughout these challenging times, they don't have the networks, family and connections to ask for help. Many have poor mental health, they struggle to manage their personal finances, they don't have anyone to help them apply for benefits or support, someone talk to organisations on their behalf, they aren't aware of their rights - essentially they need someone to listen and help them through difficult circumstances. This is what the National Helpline, Information and Support Service will achieve. This funding will contribute towards the cost of our evolving National Helpline service with Manager salary and associated costs.
