Funding Organisation
£75,000

Comic Relief partnered with Malaria Consortium around 7-8 years ago to support with Phase 1 of the Iyolwa Facility project which was to construct the building; Phase 2) Create staff quarters for health workers. Today, Iyolwa is considered one of the best health facilities in the country. The work conducted in the facility at that time included fixing broken doors and windows and water system and solar system as well as working on a borehole that would be connected to a solar grid. This was due to the realisation that without an urgent intervention, the facility would be unable to function at all. Currently, the facility is in need of further renovations to ensure that it does not fall into disuse once again. This is important to MC are Iyolwa is considered one of the best health facilities (HF's) in the region. Initital renovation increased access to services by mothers who were delivering at the fcility in their 100s to thei 1000s. Antenatal care also improved – which meant more children were saved by accessing treatment safely and locally. This funding will cover: • Repairing worn out parts and cracks in of the walls and the floor. • painting & replacement of broken windows/ panes • Partition to create space in the HIV/ TB clinic. • Replace the broken furniture and in in the patients’ waiting area & office spaces. • Solar system revamp • Revamping the water system including replacing the water pump and broken pipes and taps, • Rehabilitate the incinerator. • Support the district to conduct support supervision. • Training of health care workers on transformational leadership & culture change (Mindset shifts) to enhance customer care
