In Scotland in 2012, the number of people with learning disabilities in employment or training for employment fell by 16% to 13%. Workplace and social exclusion often means vulnerable young people who want to work face increasing challenges. The funding supports the employment of a Café Training Supervisor and Transitions Worker to co-ordinate work experience placements in the café for young people with learning disabilities aged 16-20 years; run Basic Food Hygiene training and provide transition planning support. This will lead to young people gaining valuable vocational skills and qualifications and increase their confidence, so they are able to plan for and secure work in the future.
