CIS Makerspace (360G-CheshireCF-A493730)

CIS aims to stimulate entrepreneurship and encourage students to turn their ideas into business, to experiment and invent using technology and the makerspace. A makerspace is “…a physical location where people gather to share resources and knowledge, work on projects, network, and build” (EDUCAUSE, 2013). Makerspaces provide equipment, tools, and space in a community environment to foster collaboration for creative endeavours, hands-on learning, rapid prototyping, and invention. The focus of makerspaces is on the creation of new knowledge. We want to open up our Makerspace to all students aged 12-16 in Chester to come on a Thursday between 4.30pm - 6pm and on a Saturday morning once a month. We hope to reach 50-60 students on a Thursday and 100 for weekend sessions. A grant will pay for staffing, speakers, equipment, materials and transport.
