Hunger for Health (360G-CheshireCF-A494190)

£7,075

The project will make use of an initiative new way to engage learners in physical activity called Hungerball, a fast and fun soccer game that takes place in a specially designed arena which can be played by 6 individuals or teams of two or three. It encourages team work and leadership skills to improve physical and mental well being of young people. The project will have a dual purpose of promoting informal exercise of the school population plus focused work with groups of vulnerable learners. We have experimented with the concept and have found student responses to it as very, very favourable. Many comment that "they are exercising without knowing " others have developed new confidence by having to interact and work with others. The grant will pay for equipment and venue hire, and staff time.
