The 'Fit for Life' project aims to use exercise as a vehicle to improve the mental health and emotional well-being of students at Tarporley High School. The newly created 'Fit for Life' club will be available to all students but will also specifically target key vulnerable groups of students in school such as those suffering with existing mental/emotional health issues or those displaying stress/anxiety related symptoms. The project will provide young people with the opportunity to use alternative exercise provision as a vehicle for student well-being. It will create a new well-being area in school (to complement the well-being focus across school) where students can exercise regularly with friends under the guidance and supervision of trained staff and volunteers. The ‘Fit for Life’ sessions will take place as part of the Wednesday afternoon enrichment programme and as extra-curricular clubs, before school, during break, lunchtime, and after school. A grant will pay for staffing, equipment and publicity materials.
