Memory Lane Care of the Elderly Project: Privacy Pod appeal (360G-CheshireCF-A506559)
The Countess Charity exists not to replace what the NHS provides but enhance it; through fundraising the charity are able to make a real difference to patient care and facilities at the Countess of Chester Hospital - providing the important and much needed extras. The Care of the Elderly project has been designed by clinical staff to improve settings for patients, visitors and staff and to support dementia friendly environments. The grant funding will be put toward the purchase of Privacy Pods on Wards 50 and 51 to provide privacy and dignity for patients receiving end of life care and their families. The most significant difference the Privacy Pods will make to the current set up on the ward is that it will provide privacy and dignity in dying. Providing a private place on the ward for the last days of a patient's life and an intimate space for families and close friends of the patient to spend time with their loved one and say goodbye.
