The Club - specialised socialisation group for children with Autism Spectrum Condition (360G-CheshireCF-A540552)
We are Cheshire Autism Practical Support Ltd (ChAPS) and we provide a wide-ranging variety of clubs, activities and support for people with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) of all ages and their families. We are applying for funding for The Club, Chester, a new socialisation club for children with ASC aged from 7 to 11 to enable them to be themselves, to discover who they are, and to explore who they want to be, without the pressures and constraints associated with more rigid or formal environments. The grant funding will be a major contribution to the overall running costs of The Club and will cover staffing, room rental, volunteer costs and all running costs. The Club will support children to make friends, learn how to play, develop social skills, increase confidence, improve communication and generally become much happier and better prepared for the future.

| Recipient Org: Description | Our Mission is: To enable individuals with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) (whether diagnosed or not), and their families, to achieve their potential through the provision of support, education and advice. We are a user-led charity, based in Runcorn, Cheshire. We were founded in April 2010 by a group of parents of children with ASC. We all knew from personal experience that there was a lack of services available to support our children and we had a desire to improve the situation for ourselves and for others. We currently provide support and activities for over 600 member families (around 2,400 individuals), throughout Cheshire, Warrington and Halton. With an experienced team of 6 full time and 30 part time staff ably supported by around 30 volunteers and an active and knowledgeable Trustee Board (all of whom have a direct link to autism), we provide a cost-effective solution to a serious issue (our volunteers contributed over 900 hours in 2018). We support people with ASC of any age, whether diagnosed or not. Undiagnosed families affected by ASC often miss out on services – it is vital that we support these families as they often need the most help, advice and support. At the time of writing we are delivering 90 activity sessions throughout Cheshire, Warrington and Halton every month. For example: For children with ASC we offer youth and junior youth clubs, a holiday club, intensive social skills classes, therapeutic activities, gym with dance, mindfulness, swimming lessons, horse riding, animal interaction sessions, trampolining and much more. For adults with ASC we provide an independent living skills programme, Native American Horse Sense, social activities and counselling. For parents and carers, we offer counselling, a range of awareness courses and training and monthly Newsletters and a very popular website and Facebook group – receiving around 5,000 visits a month. |
