Burtonwood and Winwick Community Bus (360G-CheshireCF-A544601)

Burtonwood and Winwick Community Bus Project provides an affordable transport provision to the local communities of Burtonwood and Winwick in a bid to tackle social isolation and enable members of the community to access local amenities. Our members which currently number 325 are predominantly elderly, disabled or suffer disadvantage and social isolation due to the lack of resources available to them and the service regularly provides transport for everyday functions such as shopping, hospital appointments, GP surgery runs and in some cases transports people to respite centres which allows their carers breaks. In a bid to enable the next step of becoming self sufficient and offset operating costs, the trustees of the group have identified an opportunity to train a member of the team as a MIDAS Scheme trainer, which will allow the project to save on external expenditure, allow increased internal access to volunteers to a nationally recognised training scheme and offer an opportunity to 'sell' this training to other organisations, all on a volunteer basis.
