Tempo Weekly Music Group for Young People aged 13+ Years (360G-CheshireCF-A572673)
Reeltime Music is a registered Scottish Charity established in 1997 based in Newarthill, North Lanarkshire that aims to bring about a positive change in the lives of disadvantaged young people aged 12 – 25 years living in North Lanarkshire. They require funding towards the delivery of Tempo Weekly Music Workshops for disadvantaged young people, specifically targeted towards those involved with CAMHS or Social Work services aged 13+ . A grant will pay towards the sessional staff costs of 2 Community Music Tutors who will have responsibility for the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programme. The work helps to build transferable skills not only for future employability, but skills which build resilience to mitigate the effect of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) in socially excluded and deprived young people. We engage with disadvantaged young people, deliver effective interventions, improve their quality of life, health and well-being by providing access to opportunities, information and support.

Our Mission Statement: To inspire disadvantaged young people through creative activities "to bring about a positive change in their lives". We deliver a range of quality services using the medium of the creative industries, through: • Workshops & training • Volunteering • Recording and rehearsal • Music and media consultancy The activities of the organisation have been co-produced by young people and are delivered across seven themes: 1. Discover: An initial taster programme 2. Connect: Dedicated and mixed ASN groups 3. Create: Weekly, creative youth groups 4. Amplify: Volunteering programme 5. Learn: Partnership projects with schools 6. Study: Creative further education projects 7. Work: Looking creatively at the world of work We provide inclusive workshops giving young people of all abilities, regardless of any potential physical or mental barriers the opportunity to learn new skills which can be used throughout their lives and act as a stepping stone towards achievement awards, certification and potential employment. We work with disadvantaged young people (12-25) who are most in need of opportunities, which includes: • Young people not in education, employment or training • Going through difficult periods or transitions • Mental and physical health issues • Young carers who lack time for their own development and respite The music workshops have been designed specifically for disadvantaged young people who do not have the opportunity to be involved in the music making, primarily because they are living in an area of high deprivation, haven’t had the opportunity at school and are socially isolated or prevented due to other issues. |
