Garden based mental health support (360G-CheshireCF-A603518)

£2,983

Time Out Group (North West) provides a range of activities and support for adults with learning disabilities. The project will provide a courtyard garden and mental mental health support for 35 individuals. The funding would pay for materials to convert their concrete yard into a pleasant, convenient, easy to access, Covid safe and private outdoor area, in which people can relax and unwind. It will also contribute towards the salary of a Mental Health Worker. The refurbished courtyard will provide an area in which the Mental Health Worker will be able to offer one to one and group support to members to help them tackle their mental health issues arising from the pandemic whilst offering a safe space in which people will be able to relax as they slowly reintegrate.

Recipient Org: Description We are a small, registered charity, based in Handforth Cheshire. We provide a range of activities and support for adults with learning disabilities/autism. We have been working with vulnerable adults from throughout East Cheshire for the past 20 years and have been a registered charity since 2007. In 2015 we re-registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Our vision is that: Adults with learning disabilities/autism are accepted as equals within their own communities and have the opportunity to take part in learning, wellbeing, active and social activities without discrimination. We are user led and we develop in line with the interests and needs of our membership. At Time Out Group (TOG), adults work to improve their own lives and the lives of their peers, with our support. We have a part time staff team of 8 supported by a group of 10 volunteers. We are governed by a team of 8 trustees that bring a wealth of experience in areas such as business management, safeguarding, accountancy, disability and occupational therapy. We also have a 10-person member (beneficiary) committee that meets every 6 to 8 weeks to talk about current and future activities and to contribute ideas to the running of TOG. We currently have 50 registered members and are based in the heart of our community at The Paddock - a shopping precinct that is fully accessible and well placed for transport links and local facilities. Our service: We offer the following activities to support adults with learning disabilities/autism to reduce their isolation, increase their independence and to improve their mental and physical health. • Together time – weekly sessions hosted by our Mental Health Support worker and counsellor. Members learn about their personal wellbeing in group workshops and through mindful gardening activities. Sessions enable members to develop personal skills to help them cope with difficult emotions including stress, anxiety and grief. • Life Skills Programme, (the subject of our application to you) incorporating; 1.
