The AFC Wimbledon Foundation aims to fulfil our local community's ever-changing needs by delivering targeted community-based activities. Our core projects focus on alleviating isolation, increasing employment opportunities, improving mental & physical health, strengthening aspirations, and creating a greater sense of community cohesion. The majority of our outreach work uses the power of sport and exercise to achieve these goals, however we also team up with local partners to provide education, employability and health focused outreach work. We run weekly sessions such as: Walking Football in partnership with Age UK that aims to reduce loneliness and allows older people to socialise and get moving. Sporting Memories in conjunction with Merton Dementia Hub which aims to tackle dementia, depression and isolation. (The session brings together older people who have an interest in sports and uses memorabilia to spark discussion and remember key sporting events from their lives.) Premier League Kicks free football sessions for young people in deprived areas on a Friday evening. This sessions aims to reduce anti-social behaviour and violent crime by providing young people with a safe space to take part in a sport they enjoy.
