Compassion Counselling (360G-CheshireCF-A608909)

£5,000

North London Hill CLub (NLHC) targets vulnerable BAME young people disadvantaged by low income, dysfunction, social exclusion, various learning, and emotional disabilities, alongside their mainstream peers, giving them the support they need to flourish in school and beyond. Compassion Counselling is a newly developed project, entailing group and individual therapy sessions to combat the devastating effects Covid19 has had on school-aged children. Funding will be used to pay the salary of a well trained and specialised children's therapist to lead the group and individual sessions. We can say with certainty, that by allowing these children to recover and have a safe space to talk about the issues they have been facing during these trying times, we allow healing to take place and can hope for a brighter future for these challenged children.

Recipient Org: Description North London Hill Club (NLHC) is an after-school club, set up to help disadvantaged young children in North London acquire a strong and relevant education and necessary social, interpersonal, and life skills. NLHC provides support in two ways. Firstly, they are often struggling academically. With their parents lacking the resources to send them for tutoring, or the home too overcrowded to complete homework, we offer a safe and quiet space to ensure they can thrive in their learning. Trained and experienced staff are on-site to help these challenged children by explaining, working with, and filling the gaps in their education. NLHC also provides a social hub to provide activities for children to enjoy. Sessions are held five days a week Sunday — Thursday and children can participate in activities. These include educational interactive games either in pairs or as a group and different sports sessions. We have exciting plans to add additional sessions in the future for music, drama, and other arts to develop the children's creative expression, following requests from our users. The purpose and benefit of these services are to enable children to develop into strong, capable, and confident adults. When the needs of young people are met at this early stage of life, their chances of success and independence are far higher in the future. The charity's objects are to help young people advance in life. The charity achieves its object through (A) The provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life. (B) Providing support and activities that develop their skills, capacities, and capabilities enables them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. The main club outcomes are as follows: -Improved outcomes for youth, leading to better opportunities for employment in adulthood. -Higher academic achievement for disadvantaged children leading to the possibility of young people accessing higher education. -Lowering the chances of mental health difficulties for young people. -The skills gained by young people who benefit from NLHC's classes and resources should be more likely to become self-sufficient adults contributing members of society. -Better life skills for young people. -Better interaction and social cohesion among young people.
