£4,960
Recipient Organization

At Activiteens we aim to support the needs of our beneficiaries as they evolve and in the last year and a half these have continuously evolved with the pandemic affecting young people emotionally in ways we did not expect. We therefore wish to provide 48 young people who, due to to Covid-19, have an intensified need for emotional support with group therapy sessions where they will together explore their fears, anxieties, feelings and difficulties they've experienced throughout Covid-19 and with the help of the therapist begin healing. The grant funding will pay for the cost of the sessions including the therapist, the rent of premises and the publicity. These group therapy sessions will empower young people to overcome their anxiety, grief, depressing thought patterns, feelings of inferiority and resentment thereby improving their emotional health and enabling them to heal and rebuild post Covid-19.

Recipient Org: Description Activiteens was established in 2004 to improve the conditions of life of underprivileged, isolated and vulnerable children and young people suffering from the effects of poverty, overcrowding, social-isolation and at risk of becoming NEET primarily but not exclusively from the Minority Ethnic communities in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Haringey. We do this by providing activities where these young people can develop skills so that they can reach their maximum potential and grow to full maturity, principally under the following categories: • We promote and advance the education for young-people by providing educational courses and programmes to boost success, increase their life-chances and improve their employability prospects • We revolutionise the sedentary lifestyle of the community and stem the rising tide of obesity by providing sports and fitness projects that support young people in positive physical health and wellbeing practices. This is especially so for these underprivileged young people who have restricted play opportunities and become inactive within the current culture of increased academic expectations and excessive computer usage. • We provide pleasurable, user-led, out-of-school activities, breakfast clubs, workshops and programmes of social, leisure and vocational benefits designed to help these young people become productive members of mainstream society. • We enable young people with special needs to fully access our services, thrive in education and develop to their maximum potential • We empower parents with skills and confidence to support their children during these critical, transient and turbulent teenage years
