Recipient Org: Description Free to Be supports particularly disadvantaged London children who are not fulfilling their potential due to limited confidence, destructive self-narratives, or other social and emotional difficulties, to change their stories about who they are, and who they can be. We achieve this predominantly via taking children out of London for nature based residential projects and overnight adventures. Through nightwalks through the woods, building rafts and paddling across lakes, cooking together in groups, camping out under the stars and a host of other activities, we help children used to feeling different, rejected, and that they can't succeed, to instead experience feeling adventurous, proud, talented and successful - often for the first time in a long time. For those most in need, we offer longer term support via our 'Journey Programme' (more intensive series of residentials spread over a year) and London based mentoring.
