Recipient Org: Description | Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) works to support the people, landscape and wildlife of this special area by running projects, raising funds for projects run by others, and distributing funds. Our aims are: to support people to visit, live sustainably and care for the area; to protect and enhance the landscape and its wildlife; and to be a well-run organisation which delivers the maximum charitable benefits. Our staff have a wealth of experience and skills, and we are seen as an enabling organisation that makes things happen. We have helped to deliver a wide range of projects worth around £28 million, including countryside apprenticeships, education and outreach work, habitat restoration, and improving access and understanding. However, much of our work is about engaging with and supporting communities – assisting community-owned enterprises like village shops, enabling asset transfer, refurbishing village halls and other valued community resources, helping communities to become more resilient, and providing countryside apprenticeships. The area faces many challenges, and the coronavirus pandemic is seriously affecting the isolated communities we support. We are working hard to help people stay healthy, safe and connected, and to be able to cope with the issues they face due to the emergency. |
