Recipient Org: Description Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) is a Community Interest Company (CiC) whose purpose is to reduce alcohol harm in local communities with a particular emphasis on preventing underage drinking. A combination of education, enforcement, engagement of young people, the wider community and local businesses and provision of positive activities for young people is the hallmark of the CAP model. Key to our success is that all our projects are run as locally managed multi agency partnership programmes, with advice and support from a team of regional CAP advisers. We bring together local stakeholders in areas of high alcohol harms to work collaboratively around shared goals to reduce underage drinking – CAP is a catalyst for positive social change. Each partnership has a unique action plan designed to address local problems/needs. We have established CAPs in Allerdale, Copeland, Barrow and Longtown, which include a range of partners including youth services, schools, police, public health, licensing, trading standards, retailers and CADAS. We provide a range of free support to local CAPs which includes support from a Regional Adviser, campaign materials, access to education resources, sharing of best practice and funding for positive activities for young people.
