Recipient Org: Description | Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery Trust (TH) is one of the country's leading independent museums, welcoming over 230,000 visitors every year. We are the lead organisation of the Cumbria Museum Consortium, an Arts Council England funded National Portfolio Organisation. As the largest museum in the county, we care for a stunning collection of over half a million objects covering Fine & Decorative Art, Natural Science, Social History and Archaeology. Highlights include one of the largest collections of pre-Raphaelite artwork in the north of England, Roman material of international importance that centres on Hadrian’s Wall (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and a nationally significant collection of specimens that represent the flora and fauna of Cumbria, the most bio-diverse county in England. Tullie House's sector-leading Manifesto is founded on principles of participation, co-curation, and creating active participants and forms the blueprint for how we engage with our community. Every year the Museum's award-winning learning team engages with 30,000 pupils, families, young people and vulnerable adults through a bespoke programme of workshops, outreach and events inspired by our stunning collections. |
