Recipient Org: Description Our charity focusses on groups of young people who have low aspirations & expectations, limited confidence and live within complex families with many daily social barriers. Some are home alone, hungry, isolated, out on the street and at risk of both social and educational exclusion. This can and does lead to being drawn into petty crime and anti-social behaviour. We do make a difference by investing our time and willingness to understand what it must feel like to be unheard and dismissed by society. Some young people live within various levels of deprivation, often part of large families with low income and are part of generational patterns of unemployment, drink and drug taking, no parental guidance or interest. Our motivation is to work with these harder to reach young people and to build emotional resilience to break that cycle, question their future, want more from life, recognise their strengths and believe in themselves. We are the sole provider of a safe space that offers a consistent, caring approach to each young person who chooses to use our centre. Since we opened up again in August 2021, our numbers have been very high with us averaging 45 each session.
