Recipient Org: Description The Farmer Network is a not-for-profit organisation run by farmers, for farmers. It was established in Cumbria following the foot and mouth outbreak of 2001 and became a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee in 2005 expanding into the Yorkshire Dales in 2010 and into Northumberland in 2024. It currently has 1300 farmer members including over 1000 members in Cumbria and also has corporate members and sponsors from businesses associated with agriculture. The aims and objectives of the Company are to support our farmer members to help sustain their businesses and maintain the environment, landscape and rural communities of Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland. Activities include group input buying particularly fuel, organising knowledge exchange events, farm business support and advice, training courses and helping young people access training and mentoring whilst starting out in the industry. Our events help farmers develop their skills and knowledge, but also provide an opportunity for social interaction reducing isolation in remote rural areas. More information about the Farmer Network and our projects and services can be seen on our website at: www.thefarmernetwork.co.uk.
