Go! London Fund - ‘Teen Bikers’ for Muslim teenage girls in Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Hounslow (360G-GLA-GROUP-_0003-2024-08-07)

£19,897
Recipient Organisation

Teen Bikers’ offers led cycle rides for 13-17 year old Muslim teenage girls complemented by cycle lessons provided by community based female instructors.  We hope to address the high levels of inactivity amongst 13-17 year old Muslim girls as this is typically an age when activity levels drop and girls give up cycling. We know there are a number of barriers that Muslim teenage girls face accessing cycling - access to bikes, lack of culturally-appropriate opportunities to cycle, concerns from parents about safety, cycling not being considered ‘cool’ by peers, and lack of relatable role models to name a few.
