CommunityOutreach2023-24 AWSG (360G-GLA-GROUP-_0230-2023-10-31)

£26,985

This project aims to help women from the BAME community develop the skills and knowledge they need to gain suitable employment. We currently run an employability project to help women into employment training or self employment. We want to run a mentoring and befriending programme alongside it for women who need support to rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic abuse. Or to restart their career journey which may have been interrupted by having children, migrating to the UK, getting married or divorced or having to care for elderly relatives. The mentoring programme is an 8-12 weeks programme working on a one to one basis with the women to help build their confidence, set career goals and work through how to achieve them. This usually includes overcoming multiple barriers such as language barriers, digital and financial literacy as well as cultural and religious barriers. For women who are further away from the employment market and lacking basic skills facing lots of challenge
