Recipient Org: Description | Gro-Organic is a multi-award winning, not for profit Community Interest Company based in the West Midlands. As a grass-roots organisation, our mission is to empower people to bring about positive change in their communities, these often being some of the most deprived and disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the Midlands. We work a wide variety of people – residents, community groups, schools, offenders (and those at risk of offending) and people with disabilities – to design, build and create gardens and useable outdoor spaces in otherwise redundant areas, transforming troublesome plots of land into thriving community gardens and greenspaces for communal use and enjoyment. We work at the heart of our community, helping deliver a wide variety of projects and activities. As well as creating positive physical and environmental change, we help deliver a multitude of personal health and social benefits for people who live and work here. Our projects are very much initiated and led by members of the community, we are there to guide and support them in making their ideas reality, bringing people together who wouldn’t normally interact with each other, to develop friendships, interests and confidence, alongside improved physical and emotional health. |
