Recipient Org: Description | To advance the education and relieve the suffering of primarily children with motor-disorders and provide advice and guidance to their families and carers in particular, by means of conductive education. MBH fills a huge gap in the statutory provision of services for children with motor disabilities such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury and dyspraxia. This group experience feelings of isolation and low self-esteem as their lack of motor skills preclude them from everyday activities enjoyed by able-bodied children. MBH staff, graduates in conductive education, provide classes where techniques are taught that enable the children to increase their gross and fine motor controls, leading to greater independence. Individual assessments are made of every attendee to determine the potential for improvement and from that bespoke plans and goals set for the year. Classes are provided daily during term time and in block sessions during school holiday periods. |
