Recipient Org: Description Community Environmental Trust (CET) is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection and enhancement of urban green spaces through innovative educational programmes, community engagement and volunteering. CET works with residents, schools and community groups to ensure a “Cleaner, Greener and safer place to live”. Objectives • To protect, promote and enhance the natural environment, in particular urban green spaces, through practical and advisory conservation management skills, to benefit its local community. • To provide seasonal and sustainable maintenance or improvements of the environment to enable better safety and access within community areas, such as community garden in Castle Vale Allotments, Castle Vale Conservation Area any other public amenity. • To educate in particular, but not exclusively children and young people from local schools, using their local environment as an educational platform to access areas and resources for hands on learning. • To encourage physical, mental and emotional well-being by providing or assisting in the provision of organised outdoor activities. • To promote volunteering opportunities across a broad spectrum of projects and work tasks, without the distinction of gender, colour, race, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic, regional or national origins, disability, religious belief, class or age. CET projects include the following: - Education: Forest Schools (Children 3-12 years old from primary schools and nurseries) - Training and Volunteering: Confidence Through Conservation (long and short term unemployed), International Erasmus Programme (work experience for oversees students) and Global Training (Admin internship) - Community Engagement: Vale Youth Green Action (youth provision for 8-14 years old), Community Garden/Mother Garden (local residents and volunteers), Conservation Area (local groups, university students, partners), Free Bike Loan for the Community (various groups) or Family Learning Days.
