We provide a link between statutory providers and blind and visually impaired people who seek to live independent and fulfilled lives. We respond to the needs of anyone affected by sight loss and support them to overcome issues and concerns, empowering and supporting them to live the life they choose and reach their full potential. SVI's services include: The provision of information via a newsletter (provided in a range of formats); accessible website; regular members meetings/events covering issues important to visually impaired people. Administration of the weekly duplication, postal and online distribution of the Sandwell Talking Newspaper. Personal development and skills via listening and support groups; IT programmes; creative art workshops; student placements and visually impaired volunteers. Health and wellbeing schemes e.g. gym and VI swimming sessions, eye health awareness campaigns, access to social and leisure activities.
