Recipient Org: Description | Doorway is a small independent registered charity set up in 1997. We provide advice, support and development services to vulnerable young homeless people throughout Warwickshire but predominantly in Nuneaton which is the most deprived local authority in Warwickshire. Our aim is to make sure that young people can look forward with optimism, raise their aspirations and improve their quality of life. Our mission is to give homeless young people a future through advice, accommodation options, support and life skills development. Our services are supported by various activities or projects which aim to tackle all aspects of social disadvantage and exclusion. All the activities that we undertake are aimed at increasing young people's confidence, independent living skills and health and well-being: such as cooking, gardening, Jobwise, New Homes Workshop, cleaning, sexual health, Young People's Group and crafts. We also provide an accredited AQA LifeWise programme, developed by Centrepoint which is an important pathway for young people to gain accreditation for their achievements regardless of their ability and used as a stepping stone to other qualifications and achievements. |
