Recipient Org: Description The Amber Foundation is a charity supporting young people grappling with homelessness and unemployment at residential centres in Devon, Wiltshire and Surrey. Amber provides more than just a roof, warm bed and 3 meals a day. All the young people who live with us follow our abstinence based development programme which has been honed and developed over the last 24 years. The programme is a mix of care, support and practical help enabling them to process their pasts and find ways to overcome the barriers that have previously stood between them and sustainable employment and accommodation. Our centres are safe, calm environments where residents can access specialist support and identify what is holding them back. Our staff encourage residents to think big, and work with them to improve their mental and physical health, alongside building their confidence, motivation and skills. Every resident’s journey at Amber is unique and as long as they are making progress and following our programme they can stay as long as they need to. Some need a few months to get their lives back on track others while other need a year or even slightly more. However the average stay is 6 months.
