Recipient Org: Description 1. Aims and objectives Aspire Living exists to support young people and adults with a learning disability to live fulfilling, independent lives. Aspire provides person-centred support and care that responds to the individual needs of people who choose our services. We choose to view people accessing our services as “people we support", placing the emphasis on supporting them to achieve, rather than being passive recipients of care. We work with people to achieve the life they choose. from ensuring they have a meaningful and full day; to providing longer-term housing options to enable them to live independently. Our staff show the people they support how to do things for themselves. They demonstrate, teach, coach and guide; then step back to encourage progression and growth of confidence, whether in exciting leisure pursuits or the important domestic tasks of housework, shopping and money management or social engagement. 2. Activities and services We provide the following services: a) Supported Living services – we provide local authority contracted adult social care support (ranging from 24-hour sleep-in support to a few hours a week) to people with a learning disability. We currently support 310 people across Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Within Herefordshire, we deliver: • Supported living in a range of settings including Aspire homes, and people living in independently or under the care of relatives to 96 people • Intensive 24/7 residential care and support to 15 people with complex needs living across three shared houses b) Community-based day opportunities – we also offer a range of day opportunities in the community for people to have new experiences and build their skills. We have 181 people on our books and as services re-open post Covid, we are gradually seeing our numbers build back up to our former capacity. Our day opportunities are: • Community Hub - Our Community Hub in central Hereford is a venue that offers services to the community, including people with a learning disability. It hosts an all-day café, and runs sports, art and social groups throughout the week. The hub is also a good starting point for people to go out into the community to pursue a particular interest, or to meet up with friends. Pre-covid, it was accessed by approximately 30 people each day, and is currently around 20. • Youth club - We run a weekly youth club for young people aged 14+ with a learning disability. Members work together to plan activities including meals, film nights and outdoor activities. Pre-covid, it had 21 members, and currently it has 12. • Aspire Growing - We run a garden, kitchen and café where people we support can gain experience in horticulture, catering and customer service. It currently supports 26 people through the week. Our support workers also support people to access any community-based activities that are of interest to them, such as going to the gym, attending a fitness class, going to the theatre or visiting a place of interest. We place emphasis on choice and independence at all times.
