| Recipient Org: Description | Care to Dance supports care-experienced young people through dance, movement, and community. Our mission is to provide safe, inclusive spaces where young people can express themselves, develop confidence, and build meaningful relationships, while also equipping them with skills and experiences that improve their life opportunities. Since 2019, we have delivered trauma-informed dance programmes across the UK, combining the expertise of social workers and professional dance practitioners. Our work focuses on young people facing multiple disadvantages, including disrupted education, social isolation, or barriers to employment. Through weekly dance sessions, leadership workshops, and celebration events, we create environments where participants feel valued, supported, and free to explore their potential. A key aspect of our approach is empowering young people to take on leadership roles within our programmes. Our Dance Teaching Assistant roles provide participants with practical work experience, mentoring, and training in communication, problem-solving, and session delivery. Alongside accredited qualifications such as Level 1 and 2 Dance Leadership, these opportunities equip young people with transferable skills, improving confidence, employability, and future prospects. Our programmes also promote social mobility by giving young people access to experiences and networks they might otherwise miss. We work closely with local authorities, social care professionals, schools, and community partners to identify young people who will benefit most and to ensure a multi-agency approach to support. Through all our work, we aim to create lasting change: helping young people feel a sense of belonging, improving wellbeing, and opening pathways to education, employment, and leadership. By blending creativity, care, and skill development, Care to Dance ensures that young people are not only supported to thrive today, but are also equipped to shape a brighter future for themselves. |
