Recipient Org: Description The Zinthiya Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting women and families in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland experiencing poverty, abuse and disadvantage. Our overall aim is to break the cycle of poverty and inequality by providing both immediate relief and long-term solutions that enable people to live safer, more financially independent lives. Each year we support over 2,000 individuals across all services we offer. Our services include: 1) Support to women and girls experiencing or at risk of all types of abuse including psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional abuse through the provision of one-to-one bespoke support, information, advice, guidance, mentoring, group sessions and training. 2) Support to individuals to build financial resilience to be free from poverty/fuel poverty. This includes information, advice and guidance with money, debt, and benefits issues, support to reduce household bills, maximise income, deal with problem debt, improve financial literacy. 3) Advice and assistance to be free from fuel poverty through the provision of energy advise and energy efficiency. 4) Opportunities to develop skills through work placements volunteering to support women and young people who are further away from the job market. As a charity focused on providing wraparound support our services also include practical help such as emergency food, utility top ups, school uniforms and sanitary products tho those who are facing crisis. We are also the only charity providing emergency accommodation to women fleeing abuse and have no recourse to public funding.
