Recipient Org: Description Our mission statement begins "Our vision is that the people of Fagley will get their voice heard and that Fagley will be a healthy, safe and viable community." and we are committed to empowering residents of the area. Here's how we're doing it: We have concentrated on working with children and young people with our partners YouthStreet14. We have delivered a summer playscheme and outreach youth work and ran a successful Healthy Holidays scheme last year. We have also organised public meetings on issues of concern and have taken up environmental and other issues raised. We have pulled together the agencies working on the estate into the Fagley Action Together team: police, the social housing landlord, the schools, the council and ourselves. We have obtained funds for a Community Engagement Officer for the next three years and she is already working alongside our partners YouthStreet14 to provide services for the community which will meet their needs and fulfil our own aspirations for a healthy, safe and viable community. We are planning an Easter Fun Day and a social drop-in programme which will run over 10 weeks with the aim of becoming self-sustaining after that time. We have just had the good news that we have been awarded a Go Higher grant which we will use to encourage and empower parents and carers of children who have the capacity to benefit from higher education but need support to pursue that route.
