We will purchase a fully-automated ‘Wellness Nordic Relax Chair’ for use by our patients who are living with terminal illness and multiple and complex issues including dementia and frailty. The chair combines music, tactile stimulation and rocking motion to offer a unique and calming multi-sensory experience. This helps people with cognitive disorders relax through soothing music and cocoon-like security, positively benefiting emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

We work in partnership with Wheatfields Hospice and have an agreed geographical split of Leeds postcodes allowing for flexibility of demand. We touch the lives of over 3,000 local people each year, caring for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, whilst also supporting their family and friends with services including: In-Patient Unit providing 24-hour care promoting comfort, dignity and choice Nurse-led beds for patients who choose not to continue active treatment Day Hospice facilities enhancing quality of life at the end-of-life Community Nurse Specialists providing support in patients’ own homes Therapy Support including physiotherapy, occupational and complementary therapies Family Support comprising social workers, bereavement support, spiritual care, support for carers and Young People’s Service Academic Unit of Palliative Care in collaboration with the University of Leeds Our services have become all the more vital in recent months due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We have adapted our services to meet increased demand, strict Government guidelines and have cared for patients who have tested positive for Covid-19.
