Recipient Org: Description Wakefield Trinity Community Trust are the independent charitable foundation of Super League side, Wakefield Trinity. We use the power of rugby league to engage vulnerable people in needs led projects targeting four agendas: Sports and Physical Activity, Education and Employability, Health and Wellbeing, and Inclusion. Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people and adults through participation in sports and physical activity and to raise aspirations through innovative education programmes which promote lifelong learning. All projects are underpinned by our values of Challenge, Compassion, Determination, Honesty, and Respect. Main activities include provision of the largest inclusive sports pathway in rugby league, operating teams within learning disability, physical disability, wheelchair rugby, and women and girls’ competitions. Trust coaches deliver a range of sport and educational programmes in local schools focusing on supporting children to have the best start to life, whilst from an adult perspective, we use our position aligned to the local professional club to deliver activities that promote physical and mental fitness and reduce loneliness and isolation. In addition to rugby league, the Trust also run Wakefield Trinity Ladies F.C, a semi professional football team established to promote female participation pathways in the area. The Trust maintains excellent working partnerships with key crime prevention agencies in Wakefield having worked collaboratively with the Wakefield Community Safety Partnership on the Urban Activ project across 2018/19 which engaged 241 young people in community based diversionary sport activities and fostered improved cohesion between participants and neighbourhood police teams.
