Recipient Org: Description Holbeck Together is the community anchor organisation for Holbeck, in South Leeds. Led by local people with lived experience of the impacts of (physical and mental) ill-health, isolation and poor social cohesion, the charity was established (as 'Holbeck Elderly Aid') in 1992 with a focus on social, health and wellbeing support for older people. In 2019, after a wide-ranging community consultation, drawing on input from hundreds of local people and organisations, we broadened our vision to include support for people of all ages across Holbeck. That process of transformation which had already begun - from a charity delivering services to people, to a trusted community partner that people approach with ideas, suggestions and concerns - meant Holbeck Together was ideally placed to be part of Leeds Covid response, and to help the local community struggling with the impact of the pandemic and the cost of living crisis. Holbeck Together has four core outcomes which we seek to achieve with people in Holbeck: • People are healthier • Older people can make more informed and free choices • People are less socially isolated and lonely • More and stronger connections between people, communities and organisations. Our work focuses on these four service areas: • Community Support • Community Activities • Meals & Food Support • Community Transport. Holbeck Together works closely with Council and NHS partners, so that partners’ services can be delivered at Holbeck Together’s site, making statutory services more accessible to some of the most vulnerable residents of Holbeck.
